Welcome to my website! I'm Aidan - a curious teenager that loves to learn new skills
and explore technology - both hardware and software. In my free time, I am writing
code for projects (such as this website!), looking through documentation, chatting
with people online, or reading about the latest technology news.
Project Euler is a website that hosts mathematics problems designed to be solved with
computer programming. I occasionally solve problems on this platform.
To date, I have solved over 100 problems - roughly 10% of all problems.
The On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS) is a mathematics database
which catalogs information on sequences of numbers.
The Project Euler community introduced me to the database as it was used to help
research information regarding a problem. Overtime, I became fascinated by the
database and have contributed 4 sequences and also assisted in the editing of
numerous others. I have added program code, added citations, and added
comments to many sequences.
When I first set out to design my website I wanted to use
Rust
to create it. I had
already created a decent
Wasm
canvas that is similar to this current format.
However, I wanted my site to be very accessible. A WebAssembly only page that
required JavaScript did not allow for the level of accessibility I hoped to acheive.
Additionally, everytime I wanted to deploy the code, I would have to wait a long
time in order for everything to compile (over 200 large dependencies).
I decided to only use HTML, no CSS or JavaScript, to create this website. The
simplicity of HTML means a very quick site load time - partly due to a small file size,
and no other files for the browser to fetch.
Initially, I wanted to use only the original 18 HTML tags created by
TimBL.
However,
I realized this was a fruitless effort. Since most of the original tags are deprecated, it
was difficult to create a decent site with the original specification.
